How to Properly Store Research Peptides
Proper storage is one of the most critical factors in maintaining peptide integrity for research purposes. Improper handling can degrade compounds quickly, compromising the accuracy of your research and wasting valuable resources.
Storing Lyophilized Peptides
Lyophilized — or freeze-dried — peptides should be stored at -20°C and kept away from light and moisture. In this state, peptides can remain stable for up to two years when stored correctly. Always keep them in a sealed, airtight container and avoid exposure to humidity.
Storing Reconstituted Peptides
Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, the peptide solution should be refrigerated at 2°C to 8°C and used within 28 to 30 days for optimal stability. Reconstituted peptides are significantly more vulnerable to degradation than their lyophilized counterparts.
Avoid Freeze-Thaw Cycles
Lyophilized peptides should be stored at -20°C (-4°F) for long-term stability or at 2-8°C (36-46°F) for short-term use. Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, store at 2-8°C (36-46°F) and use within 28 days. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles of reconstituted solutions. For research use only. Not for human consumption.
